1. Who we are
Buddy Dekho is an activity-partner platform that helps people find someone to share their day with — a gym session, a long drive, a coffee chat, or any other activity. We are based in India. By using Buddy Dekho, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
2. What we collect
- →Name, date of birth, gender, phone number — collected at signup to create your account.
- →Profile photo — uploaded by you to help others recognise you.
- →Live selfie for identity verification — a real-time photo captured during signup to verify you are a real, live person and that your profile photo matches your actual appearance. This selfie is stored securely and reviewed only by Buddy Dekho's admin team for verification purposes. It is never shared publicly or with other users.
- →Location — your approximate GPS coordinates, saved when you visit Explore, so nearby plans can be shown to you. We do not track your location continuously or in the background.
- →Activity preferences and bio — added by you on your profile.
- →Gallery photos — uploaded by you to your profile gallery.
- →Plan and chat data — day plans you post, requests you send or receive, and messages you exchange with matched partners.
- →Ratings and reviews — feedback left by or for you after completed plans.
3. How we use your data
- →To create and maintain your account.
- →To show your plan to nearby users on Explore and to show you nearby plans.
- →To verify your identity through live selfie review, ensuring the safety of all users on the platform.
- →To facilitate plan requests, chat, and ratings between matched users.
- →To moderate the platform and enforce our Terms of Service.
- →We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not serve advertisements.
4. Your live selfie — specifically
Because this is sensitive, we want to be explicit about how your verification selfie is handled:
- →Your selfie is captured once during signup for identity verification only.
- →It is stored in a secure, non-public directory on our servers.
- →It is reviewed only by Buddy Dekho's admin team to confirm you are a real person and that your profile photo matches your live appearance.
- →It is never shown on your public profile, shared with other users, or used for any purpose other than verification.
- →You may request deletion of your verification selfie at any time by contacting us. Deletion will remove your verified status.
5. Data sharing
We do not share your personal data with third parties except:
- →With our hosting provider (Hostinger) solely for the purpose of storing and running the application.
- →When required by law, court order, or government authority in India.
6. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data, photos, plans, and chat history are permanently deleted within 30 days. Aggregate anonymised statistics (e.g. total plans created) may be retained indefinitely.
7. Your rights
Under applicable Indian data protection law, you have the right to:
- →Access the personal data we hold about you.
- →Correct inaccurate information on your profile.
- →Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- →Withdraw consent for data processing at any time (which will require account deletion).

8. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Photos and sensitive files are stored in non-publicly accessible directories on our server. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. We regularly review our security practices.
9. Children
Buddy Dekho is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we discover an account belongs to a minor, it will be immediately suspended and data deleted.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app. Continued use of Buddy Dekho after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
